Småland Christmas 2009

Lundby Småland dollhouse with all the new furniture released late 2009. Patricia combined Swedish Christmas Eve traditions with her own American Christmas Day traditions, just like she does in her own home. Therefore you see the Lundby children excitedly waiting for the Jultomte to bring gifts on Christmas Eve, but most of the big gifts, which would be from Santa, are unwrapped and under the tree---of course, the children would not see them until early morning on December 25th. One has to use imagination here and suspend the timing problems! This is also a re-enactment of what happened to Patricia when she was a toddler in her grandmother's house. When her mother, aunts, and assorted friends arrived after Midnight church service on Christmas Eve, they would wake her up and tell her Santa was there and to hurry if she wanted to see him! The teen-age boy who was to become her uncle, rang sleigh bells, and was just disappearing out the door as she tumbled down the stairs----she remembers seeing his red cap! Needless to say, she still believes in Santa.....
And for all you worn-out parents out there, believing in Santa is not the most incredible: what is unbelievable is after Patricia opened her gifts, the grown-ups put her back to bed.......and she went!!!!

All the furniture is Lundby, most of which was designed for the Småland house, except for the red sofa-bed in the grandparents'room---that is from the Stockholm 2005 collection. Many of the decorations are also Lundby, often from the Lundby Advent calendars, as are several holiday clothing items. Other items are from hobby shops and dollhouse stores in the U.S.

Patricia wishes to express her gratitude to Elisabeth who gave her the teeny Christmas Pyramid, and her admiration to Seiglinde who made it----it is as close to her "real" Christmas Pyramid from Germany as it would be possible to make it. A true treasure!!

Merry Christmas to all!
