Succot!

Martha bor i Israel och därför firar hennes Lundby family alla judiska högtider.
Här firar Lundbyfamiljen Succot.
De två första bilderna visar hur en Succah är byggt utanför köket på balkongen. Detta är vad människor gör i Israel när de firar Succot och det finns lägenheter som säljs med en Succot balkong som är öppen mot himlen så att folk kan bygga en Succah.
Martha gjorde sin Lundby Succah genom att ta bilder av sin Succah's tygväggar förra året. Hon förminskade bilden med sin kopieringsmaskin och tog bilden till en fotobutik där de tryckte bilderna på vitt tyg. Martha sydde sedan fållar och satt trälister i fållarna och kunde montera sin Lundby Succah. Hon hängde julbelysning till lampor och gjorde papperskedjor att hänga upp, precus som i Marthas riktiga Succah. Marthas dotter har gjort druvorna som hänger.

Den tredje bilden är en närbild på tillbehör som ska finnas i Succah. Där finns också 2 affischer, den översta säger "Baruchim HaBaim" på hebreiska- som är en traditionell hälsning - "Välsignade är de som kommer" och den nedre affischen visar de sju tillbehören -vete, dadlar, korn, palm, druvor, oliver och pomagranate. Det är en likadan affisch som Martha använder i sin egen riktiga Succah, hon hittade den på internet och skrev ut och förminskade den.

Den sista bilden visar familjen i Succah, och Martha har gjort traditionella Kippah (huvudbonad) för männen och pojken.

The two first pictures show how the Succah is built by the kitchen on the balcony. This is what people do in Israel, apartments are sold with a Succot balcony that is open to the sky so people can build a Succah.
Martha did her Lundby Succah by taking pictures of the cloth walls last year .Then she printed out the picture. It worked using her copy machine to get the right scale. She took the picture to a photo store where they printed the pictures on white cloth, and she then sewed hems, put wood skewer sticks through to make the frame of the Succah and set it all up. She hung christmas lights for the lights and made paper chains to hang like they do in Marthas real one. Marthas daughter made some grapes to hang.

The third picture is a close up -showing the the four species - an etrog and branches of willow , myrtle , and palm that they have in their Succah. Also showing are 2 posters; the one on top says "Baruchim HaBaim" in hebrew- which is a traditional greeting -"blessed are those that come" and the lower poster is one showing the 7 species-wheat, dates, barley, palm, grapes,olive and pomagranate. It is exactly like one Martha use in her own real Succah, she was able to find one on internet and print it and make it small enough.

The last picture shows the family in the Succah and Martha has made the traditional-Kippah (head covering ) for the men and boy.
